Titanic Fact 5: Thomas Andrews

Thomas Andrews was the designer of RMS Titanic. After the ship started sinking, he searched the ships rooms telling passengers to get to a lifeboat and to put their lifebelts on. He told the officers to make sure they completely filled the lifeboats. He was last seen in the first-class smoking room looking at a painting above the fireplace. He went down with the ship and his body was never found. Today, one of Andrews ships still survives, The SS Nomadic(1911). The SS Nomadic is the last White Star Line ship in the world. She was built beside the RMS Titanic and the RMS Olympic. Currently, the ship is undergoing restoration.
