Titanic Fact 3: The Sister Ships

Titanic actually had 2 sister ships: RMS Olympic and HMHS Britannic. The Olympic looked nearly identical to the Titanic. The Titanic was only slightly longer. Launched in 1911, the Olympic was a passenger ship most of her career. Later on, she was used by the military. She stayed in service until 1935. She was scrapped alongside the RMS Mauretania.

The second of Titanic's sister ships was the HMHS Britannic. Completed in 1914, she was originally planned to serve as a passenger liner but was instead used as a hospital ship during World War 1. Sadly, the Britannic suffered a similar fate as her sister, the Titanic. While serving as hospital ship, she hit a mine and sank. She was the largest of the ships lost during World War 1. Unlike the Titanic, most of her passengers survived.
